Hong Kong Disneyland bids farewell to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters

Are you ready? Buzz Lightyear’s friends such as Sherriff Woody and Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl are ready to welcome the space ranger to Toy Story Land at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL). Buzz Lightyear will rejoin his friends starting from September 1 and continue to greet guests and create even more happy moments at the park!
Final Mission
Today, accompanied by cast members and fans, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters completed its final mission in Tomorrowland at the park. Buzz himself joined a special moment to thank everyone for their support and saluted cast members who have worked at the attraction over the years.
Queenie Hui, who joined HKDL when the resort opened in 2005, has been serving guests at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters for 12 years. She said she still remembers her first day of work at the attraction. “Over the past 12 years, this ride has created lots of precious memories for me and our guests,” she said. “It made my day every time children told me they liked going on the ride over and over to get higher scores.”
Max Ho, a 12-year cast member and a big fan of Toy Story, said, “I grew up with Toy Story movies and have loved them ever since I was a student. Whenever I saw young children who were nervous about going on the ride, I would tell them about the ride’s background story and encourage them to be brave like Buzz Lightyear.”
Both Hui and Ho were sentimental about the farewell of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters yet are really looking forward to its transformation into a new Marvel-themed attraction. They are also looking forward to joining the team at the reimagined attraction.
HKDL has always been committed to offering amazing entertainment experiences to our guests. As the resort continues to grow, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters will be transformed into a new Marvel attraction. Following that, even more Marvel-themed attractions will be added to the park as HKDL continues growing as a must-visit destination for Marvel fans. This will culminate when the new Marvel-themed area opens at HKDL in the upcoming years.
Anniversary and Halloween
Fun and exciting experiences at HKDL continues. To bring even more magical experiences to all, a series of special events are on the way such as the “Surprise Birthday Party” celebrating HKDL’s 12th anniversary from Sept 1 to 14. Watch out for the signature “Disney Halloween Time” event, which will run from Sep 14 to Oct 31!
