It’s a Small Marathon for Unicef

Disney-fan Nikki Nasuti is going to raise money for Unicef by riding It’s A Small World at the Magic Kingdom as often as possible. She has been raising money via her Crowd Rise-page. On that same page, she explains what she will be doing:
Here’s what I am going to do: I’ll accept pledges for UNICEF and I’ll ride it’s a small world over and over again. I’ll get to the Magic Kingdom at park opening and stay until close. That’s 9 am to 8 pm on this particular day. Other than two quick meals and the inevitable restroom break or three, I’ll be standing in line to ride or in a boat. If you’ve ever been on the ride, this might sound less than ideal to you. How will I endure the music alone! I’m willing to subject myself to this because I know the end goal is so much more important than sacrificing one day of discomfort. And while I do this, you’ll have the opportunity to watch along as I live-stream and live-tweet this event. You might wanna consider the mute button, that song STICKS 🙂
And why she is doing it:
There are so many refugee children around the world who suffer. I have the unique privilege of living in America, with a roof over my head and food in my belly, along with living right next to a major source of happiness and fun. I want to do what I can for these children. If it takes a gimmick like this, I’m gonna do it because it’s within my means. It’s meant with utmost respect and love for them and their struggle.
I want to bring attention to the message of world peace and unity from the ride’s classic song:
“It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears It’s a world of hopes and a world of fears There’s so much that we share That it’s time we’re aware It’s a small world after all”Why UNICEF: When Walt Disney premiered “it’s a small world” at the 1964 New York’s World’s Fair, the ticket sales (ten million 60 cent child tickets and 95 cent adult tickets, over the span of two years) benefited UNICEF.
