Soaring: Fantastic Flight Opens at Tokyo DisneySeaPublished: Juli 26, 2019 / Last Updated: Juli 26, 2019 / By: Arvid Bux
On Tuesday July 23rd, Tokyo DisneySea opened its new attraction Soaring: Fantastic Flight to the public. Soaring: Fantastic Flight is based on the popular attraction Soarin’ Around the World which can be found at Walt Disney World’s Epcot, Disney California Adventure in Anaheim and Shanghai Disneyland.
Backstory Soaring: Fantastic Flight
Nestled in the hills of Mediterranean Harbor, amidst the backdrop of an old-world Italian village, the Museum of Fantastic Flight is dedicated to humankind’s enduring dream of flying. Today, the museum celebrates Camellia Falco—a visionary innovator in the fledgling field of aviation—with a special retrospective of her life.
A grand tour of the museum includes a magical visit from the spirit of Camellia and culminates with Guests boarding her latest and greatest achievement—a flying vehicle of her own design called the Dream Flyer. Guests soon experience what Camellia believed, that our imagination can propel us into the future and take us everywhere in the world we wish to go. And before Guests know it, their spirits are sent soaring.
New and Exclusive Scenes
This new ride features new scenes and visuals exclusive to Japan. The Tokyo Tower is featured and the last scene shows Mount Prometheus while you fly back to the building where Soaring: Fantastic Flight can be found. The last scene is similar to Epcot and DCA, while Shanghai ends at Shanghai’s modern city skyline (with the ‘bottle opener’ building). Shanghai’s version most likely doesn’t feature the park as it was still under construction. Like the other soundtracks, Bruce Broughton was brought in for DisneySea’s soundtrack.
What is Soaring: Fantastic Flight?
Soaring: Fantastic Flight is a flight motion-simulator attraction that will take Guests on a journey over famous landscapes of the world, while they experience the breezes and scents that match the various scenes. Soaring: Fantastic Flight can be found in Mediterranean Harbor. The new ride is part of Happy 15 Entry and offers Disney Fastpass.
