Disneyland Paris wird die letzte Phase der größten europäischen Solaranlage bis Ende 2023 abschließen

Die seit 2020 im Bau befindliche Solaranlage auf dem Disneyland Paris produziert bereits 27 GWh Energie und wird nach ihrer Fertigstellung Ende 2023 36 GWh pro Jahr erzeugen. Diese Initiative ist Teil der Umweltaktionen des Resorts und unterstützt die Umweltziele 2030 von The Walt Disney Company. Speziell für Disneyland Paris sind die Bereiche Emissionen, Materialien, Abfall und Kreislaufwirtschaft, Wassermanagement und biologische Vielfalt die Richtschnur für Aktionen und Projekte.

Emissionen: 46,2% Reduktion der direkten Emissionen (Scope 1 & 2) und 27,5% Reduktion der indirekten Emissionen (Scope 3) bis 2030

Disneyland Paris hat sich als Vorreiter in diesem Bereich positioniert, indem es mehrere konkrete Lösungen umgesetzt hat, wie z.B. die Nutzung seines 20 Hektar großen Gästeparkplatzes für den Bau der größten Solaranlage in Europa. Dieser Bau, der 2020 als Co-Investition mit der französischen Gruppe Urbasolar begonnen wurde, wird nach seiner Fertigstellung 11.200 Parkplätze umfassen, darunter Plätze für Autos, Wohnmobile und Busse. Die Anlage bietet den Gästen bereits zusätzliche Erlebnismöglichkeiten, wie Schatten und Schutz vor direkter Sonneneinstrahlung, Regen oder Schnee. Dieses ehrgeizige Projekt wird 36 GWh pro Jahr produzieren, was dem Verbrauch einer Stadt mit 17.400 Einwohnern entspricht. Es wird die Treibhausgasemissionen im Gebiet des Val d’Europe um etwa 890 Tonnen CO2 pro Jahr reduzieren. Der dritte Abschnitt der Anlage ist jetzt in Betrieb und produziert dank der bereits installierten 63.000 Solarzellen 27 GWh Energie. Der Bau des letzten Abschnitts ist jetzt im Gange.

“Als führendes Reiseziel in Europa haben wir die Verantwortung, unser Geschäft so zu betreiben und auszubauen, dass wir ein positives ökologisches Vermächtnis für künftige Generationen hinterlassen können. Vom täglichen Betrieb bis hin zur Umsetzung neuer und ehrgeiziger Projekte – wie der Installation einer Solaranlage auf unserem Gästeparkplatz – verfolgen wir mehr denn je einen bewussten Ansatz, um unseren ökologischen Fußabdruck effektiv zu verkleinern,“, sagt Natacha Rafalski, Präsidentin von Disneyland Paris.

Auch das Disneyland Paris deckt 18% seines Jahresbedarfs mit Erdwärme. Dies ist ein wichtiger Beitrag zur Verringerung des Energieverbrauchs und der Emissionen für den direkten Betrieb. Das Resort hat auch eine nachhaltige Einkaufspolitik als Teil seines Plans zur Reduzierung der indirekten Emissionen eingeführt.

Um das Bewusstsein zu schärfen und mit unseren Gästen in Kontakt zu treten, wird derzeit die digitale Plattform “My Green Butler” auf der Disney Davy Crockett Ranch getestet. In einigen Bungalows ermöglicht diese Initiative den Gästen, ihren Wasser- und Stromverbrauch während ihres Aufenthalts zu kontrollieren.

Ein starker Fokus auf Materialien, Abfall und Kreislaufwirtschaft

In Übereinstimmung mit den französischen und europäischen Vorschriften zur Abfallvermeidung und Kreislaufwirtschaft hat Disneyland Paris Maßnahmen wie den Einsatz von Mehrweggeschirr in allen Schnellrestaurants entwickelt. Andere Projekte werden derzeit getestet, wie z.B. zwei “Agro-Fermenter”, die an die Kläranlage des Resorts angeschlossen sind und es ermöglichen, Lebensmittelabfälle vollständig in Wasser für die Bewässerung der Pflanzen zu verwandeln.

Recycling- und Upcycling-Initiativen sind ebenfalls Teil unserer Strategie. Da Tausende von Mitarbeitern in den Betriebsbereichen arbeiten und dabei eine große Menge an Kleidung verbrauchen, hat das Resort eine Recyclingpolitik, um den Stoff von Kostümen wiederzuverwenden, wenn sie nicht mehr getragen werden können. Das entspricht einem jährlichen Recyclingziel von 50.000 Kleidungsstücken pro Jahr. Upcycling wird in Zukunft immer wichtiger werden, um Abfall zu reduzieren und die Nachhaltigkeit von Ressourcen zu fördern. Dies folgt auf das erfolgreiche Upcycling der Plane, die bei der Renovierung des Dornröschenschlosses im Jahr 2022 verwendet wurde.

Wasserressourcen schonen und den Verbrauch optimieren: 4 Millionen Kubikmeter Trinkwasser seit 2013 durch eine Kläranlage eingespart

Disneyland Paris war der erste Themenpark in Europa, der 2013 eine eigene Kläranlage für seine beiden Parks und das Disneyland Hotel einrichtete. Fünfundneunzig Prozent des aufbereiteten Wassers werden für verschiedene Zwecke wiederverwendet, z. B. zur Bewässerung von Grünflächen oder zur Reinigung von Straßen und Gehwegen. Um unnötiges Gießen zu vermeiden, verwenden die Gartenbauteams ein “durchdachtes Bewässerungssystem”, das bedeutet, dass die richtige Wassermenge entsprechend dem Bedarf der Pflanzen verwendet wird. Seit 2013 konnten dank der Anlage 4 Millionen Kubikmeter Trinkwasser eingespart werden.

Andere experimentelle Initiativen wie der Einsatz von “Hydrao”-Duschköpfen in der Disney Sequoia Lodge und einigen Bungalows auf der Disney Davy Crockett Ranch werden derzeit umgesetzt. Eine erfolgreiche Testphase im Frühjahr 2022 hat gezeigt, dass dieses lustige System mit farbwechselnden Duschköpfen dazu beiträgt, den Wasserverbrauch beim Duschen um bis zu 22% zu senken.

Schutz und Förderung der Artenvielfalt durch 450 Hektar Grünflächen

Disneyland Paris konzentriert sich seit langem auf die Erhaltung der Artenvielfalt innerhalb des Resorts und möchte Kinder und Erwachsene für die Bedeutung des Umweltschutzes sensibilisieren. Das Landschaftsgestaltungsteam, das aus mehr als 100 Cast Members besteht, kümmert sich täglich um 450 Hektar Grünflächen, 330.000 Sträucher und Büsche, 7.400 Quadratmeter Blumenbeete, 33.000 Bäume, mehr als 20 Arten von Obstbäumen und mehr als 50 Arten von Wildblumen und Pflanzen.

Das Disney Hotel Cheyenne verfügt auch über einen Gemüsegarten mit 245 Quadratmetern Anbaufläche auf einer Gesamtfläche von 470 Quadratmetern. Dieser Garten ermöglicht den biologischen Anbau verschiedener Gemüse-, Obst- und Kräutersorten, die von den Gästen des Disney Hotel Cheyenne und des Disney Hotel Santa Fe genutzt werden können.
