Once Upon a Date: June 1, 1995 – Space Mountain Opens at Disneyland Paris

On June 1, just three years after the resort opened, Disneyland Paris get a new attractions: Space Mountain – From the Earth to the Moon. Also known in French as: Space Mountain – De la Terre à la Lune. The ride was loosely based on the novel De la Terre à la Lune by Jules Verne.

The inauguration of this new ride took place the night before, May 31 and Roy E. Disney was there to christen the new attraction. One of the special guests was Astronaut Buzz Aldrin. During the show we can even see a ballerina float through the sky, flying over Space Mountain. A few months after the opening, the Space Festival took place at the Videopolis.

At the resort fans of Space Mountain can now also buy the attraction book, retelling how this attraction came to be.
