Review: Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne

This review is about a hotel stay from octobre 28, 2016 until octobre 30, 2016 (Last Updated: août 21, 2017)

Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne is one of two 2-star hotels on the Disneyland Paris property, with Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe sitting across from this property. These hotels offer basic amenities, but keep up with the Disney theming and is comparable to the Value Resorts of WDW. Having little expectation about this hotel, we were very surprised at how enjoyable the room and property felt. The hotel theming itself is a combination of the wild west of the United States and rooms blending in Toy Story’s Woody and Gang.

Hotel Cheyenne Entrance Hotel

When arriving by car, one arrives to a large entrance with a tall overhang of the main building. This is reminiscent of the Disney hotels of California and Florida. The spread out property contains 14 hotel room buildings with aptly named country western legends and historical figures of the time as Annie Oakley and Butch Cassidy.

The reception building is your one stop shop providing the check-in desk, concierge, a children’s play area, the General Store (including Disney swag, drinks and snacks), the Red Garter Saloon, and the Chuck Wagon Cafe for breakfast and dinner buffet.

The reason we chose this property for our trip was the great promotion on the recently renovated rooms which we were itching to see. While still in construction, most buildings have been completed including some interiors of public spaces. Renovated rooms are named “Texas Room” while all non-renovated are categorized at Standard, Buffalo and and Rio Grande. Online reservations note that the Rio Grande is available through March 28, 2017 assuming this is for renovations.

Rooms in Wyatt Earp

Our room was situated next to the reception and shuttle pick-up area in building 18, Wyatt Earp. The buildings comprise of two levels. We didn’t notice an elevator in our building only a large staircase to the second level. Being on the ground floor and near the bus stop, we were concerned of the noise level, but we were greeted to minimal noise.

The rooms at Disneyland Paris all seem to have generally the same layout. It’s the theming and care of the room that really make or break the experience. We entered to be extremely stunned by the renovation. Not only had they made it into a lovely country theme of Woody’s Roundup, but they even took into account the traveller’s needs with multiple plug ports for all your gadgets. The laminate floors in the room are a real plus reducing the dirt build up that carpets often cause.

The room contains two double beds on basically a platform frame. The mattresses were quite basic and firm but did the job. The bed came with a comfortable and medium to heavy comforter. Above each bed were two night lamps which had a switch on each side of the bed. Each side of the beds included a nightstand or a stand to place your phone as well as outlets. No need to charge all your gadgets at the desk.

Amenities

As mentioned, this is a 2-stars so amenities wise you don’t get much. The two bottles of body wash/shampoo is all you are getting. There is no hair dryer, coffee/tea services, ironing board or mini fridge. Regardless, the overall space is what is key. The bathroom had plenty of area space to store your toiletries and the luggage storage area with the safe provides plenty of room for a family of four.

Getting to the Park

The walk to the park is about 15-20 minutes or a shuttle bus is available. Based on the lines we saw in the morning from the train stations, we would recommend the walk. Security at the Disney hotels were much more reasonable. The walk from the hotel is very nice as you parallel the canal that leads to Lake Disney and the three properties New York, Sequoia Lodge and Newport. The walk then brings you through Disney Village.

Food and Drinks

Overall we really enjoyed the property for its value. We did feel as we have at the other properties is the breakfast is about the same. Bread, jam, nutella, sliced cold meats, cereals, is nothing to write home about, but it’s included so we can’t complain much. However, we felt it was like a cattle call getting us in and out quickly without much service.

Seating area of Chuck Wagon Saloon

On our late arrival we decided to go to Red Garter Saloon to grab a snack and a drink before going to bed. The service was not what we expected. It was a half hour before closing and a not-so-happy cast member who was greeted by more guests, commented that tomorrow is okay if people stay later than closing because she would not be working. Snacks are your typical DLP mass produced quick eat but it did us justice.

Final Thoughts

The overall look of both the saloon and cafe give a great authentic country feel that many know from the old American country films. We were so happy with our short trip to Hotel Cheyenne but we definitely plan on staying again. We felt that the service was just as good if not better than the properties at Lake Disney and the price was very good. If this is your first visit or you are a regular visitor the parks, Hotel Cheyenne offers the right price, closeness to the park and just enough Disney magic for anyone to enjoy.

We’d like to quickly mention the nice amenity of the laundry facilities they offer. It’s in its own dedicated building with washer and dryers and a large sink for any extra cleaning. It is a paying service but nice to have access to if for some reason you need it.

If you have time to walk around the property, be sure to check out the local grown vegetables that are used for restaurants on property.
