Disneyland París completará la fase final de la mayor planta europea de toldos solares a finales de 2023

La planta de marquesinas solares que se está construyendo en Disneyland París desde 2020 ya produce 27 GWh de energía y producirá 36 GWh al año cuando esté terminada a finales de 2023. Esta iniciativa forma parte de las acciones del complejo en favor del medio ambiente, y apoya los objetivos medioambientales de The Walt Disney Company para 2030. Específicamente para Disneyland París, algunas áreas que guían las acciones y los proyectos son las emisiones, los materiales, los residuos y la economía circular, la gestión del agua y la biodiversidad.

Emisiones: Reducción del 46,2% en las operaciones directas (alcances 1 y 2) y del 27,5% en las emisiones indirectas (alcance 3) para 2030

Disneyland París se ha posicionado como líder en este espacio aplicando varias soluciones concretas, como utilizar su aparcamiento de 20 hectáreas para huéspedes para construir la mayor planta de marquesinas solares de Europa. Esta construcción, que comenzó en 2020 como coinversión con el grupo francés Urbasolar, cubrirá 11.200 plazas de aparcamiento, incluidas plazas para coches, autocaravanas y autobuses, cuando esté terminada. La instalación ya proporciona mejoras adicionales de la experiencia para los huéspedes, como sombra y refugio de la luz solar directa, la lluvia o la nieve. Este ambicioso proyecto producirá 36 GWh al año, lo que equivale al consumo de una ciudad de 17.400 habitantes. Reducirá las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero en unas 890 toneladas de CO2 al año en el territorio de Val d’Europe. La tercera sección de la planta ya está operativa y produce 27 GWh de energía gracias a los 63.000 paneles solares ya instalados. Ya está en marcha la construcción del tramo final.

Disneyland París también utiliza energía geotérmica para cubrir el 18% de sus necesidades anuales. Esto representa una contribución significativa a la reducción del uso de energía y de las emisiones de las operaciones directas. El complejo también ha puesto en marcha una política de compras sostenibles como parte de su plan para reducir las emisiones indirectas.

Además, para concienciar e implicar aún más a nuestros huéspedes, la plataforma digital “Mi Mayordomo Verde” se está probando actualmente en el Rancho Disney Davy Crockett. Desplegada en algunos bungalows, esta iniciativa permite a los huéspedes controlar su consumo de agua y electricidad durante su estancia.

Un fuerte enfoque en los materiales, los residuos y la economía circular

De acuerdo con la normativa francesa y europea sobre prácticas antiresiduos y economía circular, Disneyland París ha desarrollado acciones como el despliegue de vajillas reutilizables en todos los restaurantes de servicio rápido. Actualmente se están probando otros proyectos, como dos “agrodigestores” conectados a la depuradora de aguas residuales del complejo, que permiten transformar por completo los residuos alimentarios en agua para regar las plantas.

Las iniciativas de reciclaje y reutilización también forman parte de nuestra estrategia. Con miles de empleados trabajando en áreas operativas, que utilizan una cantidad importante de ropa, el complejo tiene una política de reciclaje para reutilizar la tela de los trajes una vez que ya no se pueden usar. Esto representa un objetivo anual de reciclaje de 50.000 prendas de ropa al año. El upcycling será cada vez más importante en el futuro para reducir los residuos y promover la sostenibilidad de los recursos. Esto sigue al exitoso reciclaje de la lona utilizada durante la remodelación del Castillo de la Bella Durmiente en 2022.

Conservar los recursos hídricos y optimizar el consumo 4 millones de metros cúbicos de agua potable ahorrados desde 2013 gracias a una planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales

Disneyland París fue el primer parque temático de Europa en dotarse de su propia depuradora de aguas residuales en 2013 para sus dos parques y el Hotel Disneyland. El 95% del agua tratada se reutiliza para diversos fines, como regar zonas ajardinadas o limpiar carreteras y aceras. Para evitar riegos innecesarios, los equipos de Horticultura utilizan un “sistema de riego razonado”, lo que significa que se emplea la cantidad de agua adecuada según las necesidades de las plantas. Desde 2013, se han ahorrado 4 millones de metros cúbicos de agua potable gracias a la planta.

Se están aplicando otras iniciativas experimentales, como la instalación de cabezales de ducha “Hydrao” en el Disney Sequoia Lodge y en algunos bungalows del Disney Davy Crockett Ranch. Un exitoso periodo de pruebas en la primavera de 2022 demostró que este divertido sistema que utiliza cabezales de ducha que cambian de color ayudaba a reducir el consumo de agua en las duchas hasta en un 22%.

Proteger y fomentar la biodiversidad a través de 450 hectáreas de espacios verdes

Disneyland París lleva mucho tiempo centrándose en la conservación de la biodiversidad dentro del complejo y pretende concienciar a niños y adultos sobre la importancia de la conservación del medio ambiente. El equipo de Paisajismo, que representa a más de 100 Miembros del Reparto, cuida diariamente de 450 hectáreas de espacios verdes, 330.000 arbustos y matas, 7.400 metros cuadrados de parterres, 33.000 árboles, más de 20 especies de árboles frutales y más de 50 variedades de flores silvestres y plantas.

El Hotel Disney Cheyenne también tiene un huerto, con 245 metros cuadrados de superficie cultivada de los 470 metros cuadrados de superficie total. Este huerto permite el cultivo ecológico de diversas variedades de verduras, frutas y hierbas para uso de los huéspedes alojados en el Hotel Disney Cheyenne y el Hotel Disney Santa Fe.
