Disneyland Paris presented largest drone show in Europe for Bastille DayPublished: July 15, 2023 / Last Updated: July 15, 2023 / By: Arvid Bux
Last night, Disneyland Paris achieved a new innovation milestone by surprising its guests with a unique Bastille Day nighttime show, the largest drone show in Europe, featuring 1,495 drones flying simultaneously over Sleeping Beauty Castle. Combining pyrotechnics, lights and breathtaking drone choreography, the show served as a captivating homage highlighting the connection between Disneyland Paris and France.
In celebration of Bastille Day, the 1,495 drones illuminated the sky to represent some of the greatest symbols of French culture, such as the colors of French flag, the Eiffel Tower and the emblematic rose window of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
It also celebrated Disney and Pixar classics with French connections, such as Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Aristocats and Ratatouille, through dazzling patterns and vibrant colors.
This cutting-edge entertainment reflects Disneyland Paris’ commitment to continually exceed guest experiences by pushing the boundaries of storytelling and innovation. The record-breaking nighttime show is the result of a successful collaboration of more than four months between Disneyland Paris entertainment teams and Dronisos, its official technology supplier based in Bordeaux and a European leader in drone shows.
“Disney has a 100-year legacy as innovators and we’re constantly pushing the boundaries to make our storytelling better and redefine the industries and spaces in which we operate. And what better way to help realize this than with the very talented Dronisos team? I am very proud of all the passionate teams who have worked together yet again to go even further. Onwards and upwards“ – Ben Spalding (Entertainment Producer, Disneyland Paris)
“The Bastille Day show, showcasing 1,495 drones, is a remarkable demonstration of the powerful fusion between state-of-the-art technology and highly advanced artistic direction. Together with the teams at Disneyland Paris, we share a common vision: using technology to create enchanting dreams and magical experiences. Bringing this spectacle to life has been an immense pleasure, and we express our gratitude to the Disneyland Paris teams for their trust and collaboration!” – Jean-Dominique Lauwereins (President, Dronisos)
The successful collaboration between Disneyland Paris and Dronisos has notably paved the way for the creation of the award-winning nighttime spectacular Disney D-Light – to be (re)discovered until September 30 as part of the 30th Anniversary Grand Finale – and also for the sensational drone show Avengers: Power the Night, which will return at Walt Disney Studios Park from September 1 to November 5, 2023.
