Dit is niet verwonderlijk als je bedenkt dat ze een speciale plaats innamen in Walt Disney&#8217;s leven en in de creatie van Disneyland&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Voor Walt Disney zijn spoorwegen &#8211; bovenal &#8211; een familieaangelegenheid.<\/p><div class=\"trave-content trave-entity-placement\" id=\"trave-3877430785\"><div id=\"trave-1182932796\" class=\"gas_fallback-ad_104192--placement_105828\"><!--noptimize--><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-1598899063104014\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1598899063104014\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"8620325326\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<!--\/noptimize--><\/div><\/div>\n<p>Tijdens zijn jeugd was zijn vader, Elias Disney, machinist in een werkplaats voor spoorwegonderhoud en vervolgens timmerman bij de aanleg van de Union Pacific Railway Line tussen Ellis, Kansas, en Denver, Colorado, waar hij het pad kruiste van een zekere Buffalo Bill.<\/p>\n<p>Het stadje Marceline, waar de Disney-familie zich in 1906 vestigde, dankt zijn bestaan en groei aan de Santa Fe-lijn die destijds Fort Madison met Kansas City verbond &#8211; een verhaal dat niet veel verschilt van dat van Main Street, U.S.A. &#8211; en waaraan zijn oom, Mike Martin, als mecanicien werkte. Tussen de reizen door vertelde hij de jonge Walt over de geschiedenis van de spoorweg, vooral over Casey Jones, de voorbeeldige locomotiefmachinist die in 1900 al zijn passagiers redde van een verschrikkelijke treinbotsing. Hij verkocht tijdschriften, fruit, snoep en andere dranken aan passagiers. Deze ervaring heeft zijn ervaring en verbeeldingskracht enorm vergroot, terwijl hij de grondbeginselen van het vak van zijn oom leerde en niet minder dan een half dozijn Amerikaanse staten ontdekte. Hij gebruikte deze herinneringen in verschillende van zijn films, zoals Mickey&#8217;s Choo-Choo, Dumbo (1941), Danny, So Dear to My Heart (1948) en The Great Locomotive Chase (1956).<\/p>\n<p>Walt deelde zijn passie met verschillende leden van de Studio, waaronder de legendarische animator Ward Kimball, met wie hij meer dan de helft van Amerika afreisde om in 1948 de Chicago Railway Show te bezoeken. Er was ook animator Ollie Johnston (Mr. Smee, Sir Hiss, en vele andere mythische personages) en machinist Roger E. Op 31 augustus 1948, slechts enkele dagen na zijn terugkeer van de show in Chicago, schreef hij een beroemde memo waarin hij de basis legde voor een &#8220;Mickey Mouse Park&#8221;, een soort voorlopige visie van wat &#8220;Disneyland&#8221; zou worden, met in het hoofdgedeelte reeds een treinstation. Kort daarna bedacht hij een serie van 24 geanimeerde modellen van Amerikaanse folklore en erfgoed die in een trein door het land zouden worden vervoerd, waarbij elke wagon gewijd zou zijn aan een andere streek van de V.S. en haar geschiedenis.<\/p>\n<p>Al deze elementen zijn te vinden in verschillende Disney Parken en vooral in Disneyland Parijs. Maar het is niet alleen Walt wiens leven getekend is door de spoorweg. Mickey ook!
